Even with his face placed on top of a specific Disney store, you could not escape merch in any of the other Disney gift shops and stores around the world. A statue with "spitting" water features was placed on top of the "World of Disney" store within the "Downtown Disney" segment within the Disney World Resort (now known as "Disney Springs").

He was placed anywhere where Disney could stick him. If you are like me and were a huge Stitch fan as a kid, or were a disgruntled theme park fan in the early to mid 00s, you may have known how large Stitch's presence was. With Lilo & Stitch becoming Disney's largest success in a while meant that Disney would naturally want to capitalize on it. Lilo & Stitch became a large surprise hit for the company, earning $35,260,212 (which is roughly $53,987,110.43 in 2022) within its first weekend. This pitch, after a unique development period that has its own great writeup, eventually became Lilo & Stitch. When Sanders, a head storyboard artist at Disney, was approached to pitch an idea he reused an old storybook idea about an evil alien who befriended a little girl. Eisner, after a large number of high profit movies decided to try out making one less expensive, smaller film, inspired by the likes of Dumbo and other classic "budget Disney" films. Luckily for Disney, that angel would come in the form of Chris Sanders, and oddly enough Micheal Eisner. Whatever the case was, Disney was no longer churning out hit-after-hit and needed something big to come. There was also poor marketing pushes for movies like Treasure Planet, which is believed to be caused by higher ups who weren't interested in those movies to begin with. Many were also more impressed with the CGI efforts of Pixar and Dreamworks, which made the 2D animated style of Disney flicks from the time seem like old hat. People were growing bored with the "Disney Formula", which is why the competitor's film, Shrek was such a huge success. There are many reasons why this may have happened. However, once the late 90s and early 00s hit, Disney suddenly entered a dark period when suddenly their movies were no longer sure fire hits. This period birthed many movies that are considered fan favorites and classics: Beauty & the Beast, The Little Mermaid, and The Lion King being some of the most notable examples from this period of time. In the late 80s and the early 90s Disney had a successful period of time that many within the fandom consider the "Disney Renaissance". If you're wondering what this image has to do with Stitch, you are not alone.
